Manual handling

We provide a course on the safer moving of people, often called the "Manual Handling Course".

This course led by our RoSPA certified safety trainer, Ms. Betty Barry, is held weekly at our training facility in Quaker House, Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.

Skills

• Basic rules of Manual Handling
• Slide Board from bed to chair
• Slide up bed
• Help from bed to chair, 2 persons
• Position of Back
• Use of knee on bed
• Move in bed with phil-i-slide, 2 persons
• Communication with the Client

Hoist

• Use of equipment
• Handling and placing of sling
• Manoeuvering of Hoist from Bed and Chair with Client
• Safety of Hoist
• Safety of clients
• Communication skills in performing task

Students are presented with the Mandatory 2 year Manual Handling Certificate on the successful completion of the course.
